Be The First Services and Programs
H.A.L.T.
Health Advocate Leadership Training Program
The goal of our H.A.L.T. program was to empower young individuals to prevent tobacco use and advocate for healthy lifestyles among the community. We wanted high school aged youth have the opportunity to mentor peers and younger generations to recognize and resist smoking related pressures and unhealthy lifestyles, focusing on preventing the onset of regular tobacco and smoking use.
After H.A.L.T ended, we asked the students about their insights and thoughts on the program. Most felt that it was informative and useful. Check out the feedbacks we received!
Curiosity plays a huge role in the smoking initiation among youth; therefore that by providing more tobacco education to the younger generations, we hope to disparage their curiosity and their urge to try smoking.
Prior to the program, most students were unsure about their ability to intervene or give someone tobacco cessation (quit smoking) help. However, after the program, they felt more confident through hands on activities they participated in. Students were able to experience the different scenarios in which they had to use their intervention skills and their knowledge on tobacco use to help their peers!

2018 Be the First Tobacco-Free Generation Campaign with CVS Health
Breathe CA of the Bay Area is happy to announce that we will be partnering again with CVS Health in 2018 to further our joint commitment to helping people lead tobacco-free lives. Breathe and CVS Health are working together for the second year in a row to create and implement a youth tobacco prevention program focused on preventing initiation of and reducing tobacco use among youth. We will conduct trainings and workshops for youth in local schools that will describe tobacco basics, inform youth about the negative consequences of tobacco use and addiction, and promote a healthy, non-smoking lifestyle. Breathe will also discuss the misconceptions of emerging products such as electronic cigarettes and various flavored tobacco products. 2017 Be the First Contest: THANK YOU for participating!
Breathe California of the Bay Area is proud to announce the "Be The First" public service announcement (PSA) contest with CVS Health. This PSA contest was open to all youth grades 6-12. Our goal was to educate young students about the negative side effects of tobacco, and we believe that this PSA contest was a fun and engaging way for students to show off their creativity and spread awareness in the community. A big THANK YOU those all those who participated!
