Sleep apnea is a serious breathing disorder that affects millions of Americans, and the medical equipment prescribed to treat sleep apnea is frequently not covered by insurance. Sleep Apnea is usually caused when the muscles in the back of your throat relax, when these muscles begin to relax it may become harder to take an adequate breath in. In keeping with our mission, Breathe California of the Bay Area conducts a popular program in which we accept gently used CPAP and BiPAP machine donations that are less than five years old and come from a pet-free, smoke-free household. We then redistribute them on a first-come, first-served basis.
We provide CPAP/ Auto CPAP , Bi-PAP /Auto Bi-PAP machines and respiratory equipment that is newer than five years to consumers. Because of the popularity of this program, you may be added to a waiting list. And because these are prescription devices, we do require recipients to provide us with a copy of their prescription – we cannot distribute equipment or add you to a waiting list without a prescription on file. We currently only serve the counties of Santa Clara, Alameda, San Benito, Merced, Madera and Fresno.
So if you have a gently used CPAP machine or other respiratory equipment that comes from a pet-free, smoke-free household, please consider donating it. We also accept supply donations as long as the supplies are new in their original, unopened packaging. There is substantial need for such equipment. A charitable donation letter will be provided.
