The AC Museum Foundation was pleased to receive a $10,000 matching grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation to develop the Altaville Foundry exhibit in cooperation with the Angels Camp Museum. The matching monies came from a variety of fundraising efforts from the ACM Foundation.
“The Altaville Foundry, now known as California Electric Steele, is the oldest and continuous family-owned and operated foundry west of the Mississippi—170 years in operation,” said Foundation President Ponte. “The Foundation was honored to partner with the museum and the Foundry owners to bring this exhibit to fruition. The grant support of the Calaveras Community Foundation helped tie it all together. The Foundry has played a key role as an economic engine in our community, not only for the products they produce that are used worldwide but also for the employment base they provide for our city and our region. It feels good to recognize the evolution of this industry and the history it represents for our community. |
