Trail Trekkers, working with the city and the National Park Service, with a technical assistance grant from the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program, produced a plan to provide wayfaring signage for El Cerrito’s system of trails, paths and stairways.
The plan was to provide signs for all the city’s trails, both those in the Hillside Natural Area, and for the “urban” paths, walkways and public stairways that are found throughout town. Funding has been provided for trails signs in the Hillside only. Trekkers is currently seeking funding for the urban trails as well. The Rotary Club is funding this wonderful 15-sign project, which focuses on nature, geology and history in the Hillside. The signs are being installed in May along the Live Oak Trail.
