Broom Pull

Next spring
Rain makes it an ideal time to pull broom. Trekkers and the city’s Environmental Quality Committee’s Green Teams held monthly broom pulls in the winter and spring to remove this invasive weed from the Hillside Natural Area. Besides drowning out native plants and harming habitat, invasive French broom is a dangerous fuel for wild fires.
Removing broom is relatively easy, and much fun. It is satisfying to see how much improved the Hillside has become over the years, thanks to our efforts and those of Friends of Five Creeks.
We made great progress in the Madera Open Space this year, below Madera Elementary School near 1540 Madera Circle.
Please join us next year in the rainy season!
