What We Eat Matters

The human body is designed to function best by consuming whole, real foods.  Every immune function and nearly every biological process going on within the body is dependent on a supply of critical nutrients. We should be getting these nutrients from our food, however, due to modern farming practices, soil depletion, food production and highly processed foods it is much more difficult to get critical nutrition into our bodies. 

Three Areas of Concern (video clips below)

Angie's Option, GRM provides exposure to education in order to help consumers confidently make choices they feel are best for themselves based on education.  Classes offered at Angie's Option, GRM are based on a comprehensive study of current scientific research including the relatively new science of glycobiology. 

It can be Hard to Know Who to Trust...

It's not surprising companies have incentive to sell their products. Their bottom line matters and therefore claims may be made which have little to do with the reality of their products. As consumers we can find it difficult to know how to decipher what is factual verses what is just  marketing. Angie's Option, GRM non-profit organization is not working for any particular company,  we simply provide exposure to this education and then support consumers in making decisions they feel are best for themselves.

Is Your Food Safe?

Food that comes out of the soil today isn't the same as it was generations ago.  In an effort to feed the masses, farming practices have been altered to meet the demands.  In fast-paced lives, the public insists on what's easy and convenient when it comes to food.  It can be overwhelming trying to combat processed "food-like" substances which are so readily available.  Angie's Option, GRM is dedicated to providing solutions through education therefore empowering individuals to make choices that can make all the difference for the quality of their lives.

​Nutrition From Food

In an ideal world, we should be able to get all the necessary nutrition to support our bodies from food. Most of us didn't grow up needing to supplement and neither did our grandparents. However, in our modern world, it's nearly impossible to get the required nutrients from what we eat.

​Not All Supplements Are Created Equal

The most common supplements are either passing right through the body with very little absorbtion OR they are actually causing more harm than good. As taught in our Wellness Journey Class, these supplements contain harmful substances like coal tar and petroleum. There are however, companies that bring to market supplements which do provide the critical nutirition that is missing from our modern diet. Angie's Option, GRM vets various products from multiple companies so consumers can take the guess work out of what's real and helpful verses what may just be throwing money away OR what may actually be harmful.

​Alleviating Supplement Confusion

When you know better, you can do better! Angie's Option, GRM is committed to helping you to know what to look for in supplements and how to determine if your favorite supplement is doing all that it claims to do. The Wellness Journey Class covers information about the harmful ingredients of many common supplements, and why isolated, naked chemicals made from man-made sources are often not recognized in the body the same way natural, food-matrixed nutrients are.

The Science of Glycobiology

 


Have you Ever Heard of Glycobiology?  We hadn't either!

If you've never heard the Glycobiology (aka the study of sugar) don't feel bad.  It's a relatively new field of science that has only been around for a few decades.  While many people in the scientific research fields are talking about it, it hasn't quite made it's way to most health care professionals, and certainly not the the general public.​
As we continue to study these sugars and how they impact cellular communication, it is clear to see how critical this science is!  It's easy to see why MIT proclaimed it one of the "top ten technologies that would change the world." 
The National Academy of Science (NAS) has observed a “widespread lack of understanding and appreciation of glycoscience in the scientific and medical communities and among the general public.” In their publication they stated that “every living cell on the planet (human, animal, plant, and microbe) have these sugars (glycans) surrounding them and that every molecule, cell, or organism that interacts with a cell must do so through these sugars. In addition, “every disease that affects humans significantly involves these glycans.” Clearly, these sugars represent the biomarkers for every major disease and are involved in nearly all biological processes within the body.

Sugar Nutrients - Critical Factor for Overall Health

The best thing we can do for our health is to support our immune system. It was designed to  keep us well and perform optimally .  While sugar-nutrients do not treat specific diseases, they do allow cells to send proper messages.  When our cells communicate clearly, it's amazing what the immune system is capable of doing.  Our immune system knows how to make corrections and restore proper function, when given the raw materials it needs.
