CONNECTING KIDS TO FOODConvivium's kids programming includes fun, hands-on classes and camps that connect kids to their food, both in the garden and the kitchen.
Kids learn about where food comes from and how it grows through an interactive tour of our neighborhood gardens -- harvesting and tasting whatever is in season. They learn simple ways to turn real food ingredients into healthy snacks, homemade pizza dough, and egg omelets full of veggies they harvested themselves. We believe interacting with food is the best way to encourage kids to make healthy food choices, to see themselves as having an active role in our food system, and to be inspired to take care of our environment. We also believe these long-term goals come to fruition through a spark of interest after a kid picks and eats something right out of the garden, is taught a new skill in the kitchen, or experiences the pride of preparing, enjoying, and sharing a meal they made themselves. |
Class PartnershipsIf you are interested in partnering with Convivium to offer a tour or class for youth at your organization, please contact our Program Director, Sam, to coordinate.
