DANA at DAYA: Generosity, Contribution, Donation All Dharma events, and many yoga workshops and series, and some of our trainings are offered on DANA basis.
We, and the teacher, are entrusting the community to offer a donation that reflects the value of the timeless teachings in their life.
When events are offered on DANA basis, the teacher is giving all donations to our DAYA Medical Scholarship and Yoga Outreach Programs.
When setting our Suggested DANA or donation + sliding scale amounts, we consider the value of the teachings for our students' health, well-being, relationships, and joy. We also consider the resources required to host the workshops and series, including the beauty of the urban ashram space in which we get to practice, all of the efforts behind the scenes to provide, promote, and support workshops and series.
We recognize that life comes in different sizes, with different earning capacities, different financial responsibilities, and varied ways in which we all must allocate our resources. We appreciate your respect for our DANA (and our sliding scale system) and the integrity with which you choose your DANA, or sliding scale level.
Why is Dana an important practice? In and of itself, DANA develops a connection with others and opens the heart and mind to seeing one’s perspective towards compassion and underscores our interrelatedness. It has the ability to soften how we are in the world and how we interact with those around us and offers an antidote and balm to our habitual patterns of self hatred, and aversion. The true practice of DANA requires awareness and presence.
Can you imagine a world in which we all put the well being of others before ourselves?
