Our HistoryPursuit of Happiness – Memphis is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is dedicated to preparing Memphis’ youth for postsecondary success.
Inspired by many youth in the city, POH-Memphis was founded by India Murrell who encourages and believes in the future success of Memphis youth. Since 2017, Pursuit of Happiness has been dedicated to the current and post-secondary success of inner city youth. We seek to build the self-worth of children by promoting passions, broadening horizons, and uplifting through empowerment and encouragement. |
POH-Memphis is organized for charitable purposes, specifically designed to provide programs that keep youth safe and active in their community, provide services to help them succeed in life, and support for youth re-entering the community.
We are here to empower youth toward lifelong personal growth, and to create a more deep-seated passion in themselves through open counseling, mentoring, and life-skills training. POH-Memphis serves as a resource for youth seeking future goals, aspirations, self-worth, and overall success. The organization reinforces the message that they are destined to succeed with the proper support and resources — serving as a resource and tool for youth that enter the workforce, college, or trade. Pursuit of Happiness wants to combat the stereotype of our Memphis youth by providing empowerment, encouragement, and enrichment to our youth on their Pursuit of Happiness.
