Event Volunteers: This involves being present during our events and productions as an usher, ticket taker, seat finder, or ticket booth sales person. Sometimes this involves working backstage in the green room making sure our performers have all the comforts we pride ourselves on. This is a great way to meet your neighbors and friends as well as some terrific performers. Some light clean up and chair stacking after the performance is also very helpful.

Set-up/Break-down Volunteers: Do you like exercise with a purpose? This is a great way to get some exercise and have the satisfaction of seeing the results of your labor. Setting up tables and chairs, decorating, then stacking tables and chairs after an event are part of the duties of this volunteer. You’d be surprised how fast the work goes when you are joined by a few other volunteers.

Volunteer Liaison: The Opera House is rented for a variety of events from weddings to corporate dinners to film screenings. Prior to renting, many folks want to get a tour of the space. Our volunteer liaison meets with the prospective renter to show the space and answers questions. This person would typically unlock and lock the space as well. If you fancy yourself as a great ambassador for Vergennes and the Opera House, and you have a bit of interest in event planning, then this volunteer position is ideal for you.

All Around Volunteer: You might be called on for any number of interesting needs by the VOH Board of Directors. Involvement could range from hanging posters around town, to bartending at an event, to stuffing envelopes for special mailings.
