John Caldwell III
City of Houston | Board Member
John is a Houston native and proud US Army Veteran with over 16 years of service including 3 tours overseas. John works in law enforcement, and is a stout advocate for the community. He is the Community Service Coordinator for Royal Court PI, Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. in Houston, TX. Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. is composed of military veterans from various branches that seek out an opportunity to continually serve others. The core objectives for the organization are to positively impact the local and veteran communities through outreach services. John is passionate about finding effective ways to serve communities in need.
Cha'Mario Chopp

Cha’Mario has been teaching in various capacities for 8+ years. She has an amazingly creative spirit that takes advantage of any opportunity to inform, contribute and inspire the community, especially children and youth. It is important for Cha’Mario to provide an example for adolescents and others to know that no matter where you come from, you have the ability to grow and excel beyond your circumstances.
Dr. Jamaal Fortner, DSW, LCSW

Dr. Jamaal Fortner, LCSW is a compassionate and dedicated therapist/social worker who firmly believes in the power of community and giving back. In addition to his clinical practice, he actively engages in non-profit and community-based work, viewing it as an essential part of his therapeutic approach. His doctoral research was rooted in achieving equal opportunities for children and families of color through educational equity. Through his involvement, he fosters a sense of connection, empowers individuals to make positive changes, and advocates for social justice, creating a holistic healing environment for his clients and those in the surrounding communities.
Norman Mitchell

Norman Mitchell is a graduate of Texas Southern University. Mr. Mitchell has served in Executive leadership for more than 20 years. During his impressive career, he has acquired more than $30,700,000.00 in grant funds, and has developed an array of community programs designed to bring equity to people of color. He is a 33° Freemason and a Shriner. He continues to volunteer his time as a youth counselor, coaching youth Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis and Soccer. When he’s not working or volunteering, you can find him mentoring youth and young adults, offering support and assistance wherever he’s needed.
Arleita Kuromiya, RN

Arleita has been serving the healthcare field with over 30 years nursing experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and is working on obtaining a Masters Degree in Public Health. She possesses a strong desire to assist Houston’s at-risk populations through providing accessible resources and education.
