Homeless people have a poor self-image, lack self-respect, and low self-worth. Thus, Foundation for the Poor Inc. joins AJ Kalinga Foundation Inc. in re-creating and empowering the lives of the homeless and the wounded through its mission of providing dignified, systematic, and holistic care.
The ‘Kain-Aral-Linis-NG-Ayos’ program of the AJ Kalinga Foundation helps to alleviate the plight of the homeless by providing a refreshing shower and a decent meal, coupled with teachings on fear of God, respect for others, and getting along well with the world at large. Their self-worth is somehow uplifted. While the scars from their years in the street are deep-seated, the CARE they receive from Kalinga helps them to cope better. The right to basic education is addressed by means of the Alternative Learning System (ALS). Homeless are offered and provided with the opportunity to develop basic and functional literacy skills, and to access basic education. The ALS program arms them with basic literacy and provides them with the opportunity to employment and become self-sufficient.
