In the U.S. approximately 30 million people suffer from an eating disorder.
The consequences are dire: eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and treatment can cost more than $2,000 per day. Since KMB was established in 2013, we have committed ourselves to raise awareness and provide support to our community as well as individuals, families and loved ones impacted by this devastating disease.
Current Initiatives:
Each year we review needs in our region as well as consider current issues across the country to help us determine new and recurring efforts to support individuals impacted by eating disorders. KMB also collaborates with other organizations, host educational events, and initiates and expands ongoing programs. We primarily focus on our regional area, however we have connections across the country and beyond. We will continue to offer professional development scholarships, including iaedp certifications and post treatment scholarships for individuals in recovery. Other initiatives include the pillow project, therapuetic yoga sessions both virtual and in person, The Body Project developed by NEDA, body neutrality information and books/resources for clinicians, We are always considering opportunities to create new touch-points in the community by connecting with local universities, colleges, schools and other organizations to expand awareness and understanding to improve outcomes for anyone impacted by an
eating disorder.
