Our MissionWe are a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding awareness, knowledge, understanding, support, and options for those impacted by Eating Disorders.
KMB for Answers was founded in loving memory of Katlyn Mary Bennett, who died on June 23, 2013, after a long struggle with anorexia at the age of 25. Katie was first diagnosed at age 11 it took 3 years to stabilize, she was in recovery for over 8 years before ED returned with a vengeance and overwhelmed her life. KMB for Answers, Inc. is a 501c-3 tax-exempt organization, formally established in August 2013. We are based near Rochester, NY where we are active in the region sharing information with schools, colleges and our community to help inform and educate everyone about eating disorders. In addition we provide scholarships for clinicians and others to participate in professional development regarding Eating Disorders. We know having trained professionals is critical to ensure early intervention which will lead to recovery. Ellen Bennett, KMB Director is on the Community Advisory Board (CAB) for the Western NY Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders (WNYCCCED), is an Ambassidor for the Eating Disorder Coalition (EDC) and a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and has numerous other connections across the country. All our activities support and advance our mission; to change outcomes and support anyone impacted by Eating Disorders, no one should struggle alone. By raising awareness and understanding we will create a supportive community to end stigma, shame and secrecy. |
Director's MessageEating disorders have been part of my life for over 20 years; this journey has awakened me to the serious need to advocate for awareness, understanding, insurance reform, training, comprehensive treatment, and early intervention. Eating disorders can be deadly, everyone knows someone, you just might not be aware. Eating disorders are a disease of disconnection, isolation, and denial; we cannot be silent. KMB is a catalyst for change in memory of my daughter, Katie who suffered for years and those who continue to struggle every day. See Katie's story. Sincerely, Ellen Bennett, Director |
