RehearsalsThe Choral Society traditionally rehearses on Monday evenings during the concert season (September to May), from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during concert weeks and occasionally at other times during the semester. Starting with the first rehearsal of the season (Sept 11th, 2023), CSD will strongly recommend that singers who wish to attend rehearsals in person be up to date on their COVID vaccinations. While masking will not initially be required (based on the current projected COVID landscape in Durham), singers are always welcome to wear a mask in accord with their personal level of risk tolerance. As the season progresses, the CSD Health Committee will continue to gather and assess various health data in order to determine whether this policy needs to be further strengthened or can be safely eased even further. We recognize that rehearsing in person has tremendous appeal for many singers, but we also want to be very careful to protect everyone's health and be inclusive of the health needs and limitations of all members. Members are expected to attend each rehearsal in its entirety and should not miss more than 2 rehearsals per semester without the approval of the Artistic Director. Zoom recordings of the rehearsals are also made available for later use by any CSD singer. All singers are expected to learn much of the music on their own, with the help of online recordings, note-learning sites, and any audio files provided by the Choral Society. In special circumstances, singers may request permission from the Artistic Director to take part in a rehearsal via Zoom. |

Dues
Dues for the 2023-24 season will be $150. Dues may be paid in 2 installments, September and January. Dues for new members joining in the spring of 2023 will be $75. Scholarship funds are available to members for whom payment of dues constitutes a hardship. You may request assistance by emailing us at office@choral-society.org or calling the CSD office at 919-560-2733.
Returning MembersMembers in good standing are not required to re-audition each year, except at the conductor’s discretion. Members who have taken leave for two or more consecutive semesters must re-audition. Members meeting all requirements (e.g., maintaining acceptable attendance) may return each semester without re-auditioning. Visit our YouTube Channel to listen to us. |
