The Ayers Foundation has partnered with Zero Foodprint to implement a new initiative here in Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut. We are in the early stages and currently welcoming Rhode Island and Connecticut farms, which could benefit by participating in this project, to reach out for more information.
Zero Foodprint is a nonprofit organization collaborating with state agencies and local governments and conservation experts to team up with farmers and ranchers around agricultural climate solution projects through crowd-funded grants. ZFP was named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation. By helping farmers transition to regenerative farming practices via grants, ZFP helps communities restore the climate, build resilience and grow nutrient dense ingredients. This program has developed an innovative approach to scaling private-sector funding for on-farm practice implementation and technical assistance. ZFP has generated/awarded over $1.1M to 65 projects in CA and CO since 2020 and is expanding to the Northeast in the summer of 2023, through a recent USDA Climate Smart Commodities grant.
This project will serve as a wonderful resource for enhancing agroecology, climate change mitigation, and farm productivity here in RI and the Northeast.
To learn more about the project, here is a recording of the 2022 Information Session.
