Joe Fejeran(he/him/his)
Joe (he/him) was born and raised in Guåhan (Guam) and identifies as CHamoru, the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands. In 2004, his family relocated to East County San Diego, where he has lived since. Upon graduating high school, Joe began his higher education journey at Grossmont College. He is a proud transfer student and finished his degree program at UC San Diego (Thurgood Marshall College) with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. In his professional career, Joe has worked for several iconic San Diego institutions, including the Hotel Del Coronado, UC San Diego, and San Diego Pride. In 2024, Joe continued this streak by joining the City of San Diego as the Executive Assistant to City Councilmember Kent Lee, District 6. Prior to Lambda, Joe served on the board of directors for the San Diego Leadership Alliance from 2020-2024 as Institute co-chair. Joe worked with committee members to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the curriculum for the SDLA Institute, a program designed to develop progressive leadership in the region. Joe is passionate about issues and policy around fat activism, gender-based violence, and the Chamoru diasporic identity. Joe is also an avid podcaster, lover of horror films, trivia nerd, and karaoke singer. |
