Supportive of the Caregiving CommunityThose who require care often live with family or friends. The Self-care for the Caregiver programs have been developed for this very reason. A recent study revealed that 30% of family caregivers of individuals with dementia actually die before their care partner and a large percentage of caregivers rate their health as poor. The time has come for caregivers to realize that their lives matter, and our organization has made it our mission to build community support for this initiative.

Fundraising to Cover Gaps in CareIndividuals in need of care may be unable to receive the care they need, due to a lack of insurance coverage, inadequate financial resources or staffing issues. Perhaps, with funds available, these issues can be addressed with creative sustainable solutions. We are developing fundraising opportunities to answer the call and find solutions for the existing Caregiver Crisis.

Break the Cycle of LonelinessOur Thankful Thursday: Care for the Caregiver Program was developed to reach out to those who are homebound or have difficulty leaving home because of their caregiving responsibilities. Another alarming statistic involves loneliness. A recent study revealed the toll that being isolated has on one's health. The study stated that living in isolation had the same negative effect on one's health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. So, we make phone calls and drop us little care packages to let individuals know they are not alone.
