Equestrian Spirits had it’s origin as a 4-H horse club. The original founding members chose and voted on their name. Their president, vice-president and historian remained in contact with us once the club disbanded, and when asked for ideas about a title for our 501(c)(3) they unanimously offered their name; so on January 3, 2010 the ‘new’ Equestrian Spirits began.
A board of directors was formed, an excellent accountant procured and papers began to be filed with plans to find a permanent home within in the next few years.
On June 7, 2010 we received non-profit status from the state of Florida with our IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status approved September 14, 2012 being retroactive to June 7, 2010. Then on March 14, 2012 we thought the miracle of a home had become reality when a supporter closed on a cute little farm in Anthony, Florida with the intent of housing our dedicated endeavor of animal rehab and rescue. Within two years that family had personal problems arise so we were ‘on the road again.’ In 2017 we were able to buy our own farm; finally providing the stability we so greatly needed.
Although our main focus is horses, we also house dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other animals as we are able to provide. In addition, we are deeply devoted to education for animal lovers, enhancing their level of understanding to help provide the quality of care their animals deserve.
Equestrian Spirits is generally a Holistic center. We treat animals with the aid of gifted veterinarians through homeopathy, herbs, nutrition and a variety of natural remedies and modalities. We are also blessed with several conventional medicine veterinarians just as gifted who provide another spectrum for the well-being of those in our care.
We welcome any monetary donations, gifts of many products and items (such as supplements, blankets, equipment) and volunteers of all levels. Please check out the variety of ways you can show your support by reviewing our ‘Contribute’ or ‘Donate’ pages.
