Our Farm
In the summer of 2017 the non-profit animal rescue sanctuary known as Equestrian Spirits
found a home on 60 gorgeous acres in Levy County, Florida!
Refreshing central Florida weather, easy location to small town comforts, close proximity to Ocala’s “Horse Capitol of the World” make every day a joy.
Impressive equine hospitals, plenty of quality vets, farriers and feeds make each day that much easier.
Good friends and happy animals, make our lives so very much richer…
Trees and wildlife, pastures and a pond, barns and living quarters could not be any more wonderful!
We are surrounded by good neighbors, most with horses of their own, and are visited yearly by a flock of over 100 Whistling Ducks! Who could ask for more?
The brays of donkeys, crows of our roosters or a grunt from our pig join the sweet sounds of birds, ponies, local coyotes and our guinea fowl. They make the tunes when our resident musician is busy elsewhere.
We acquired the farm from a gentle man who still calls this his ‘paradise’; and that it is… We are now honored to call it “our paradise” yet everywhere one looks, you can see the love that built this farm.
This haven will forever be called ‘Amik Run’ in memory of my incredibly gifted equine soulmate, Amik. We will continue our Centaur programs which began in 1981, take up Ah-Ha where our blessed friend Lynn Peck left off, and are looking forward to the new lives who will come our way over the years while we reach out to help our community and various rescue or support systems as they arise.
We believe love conquers all. It is with this spirit we share what we have come to call our ‘Creed of the Centaurs’;
W.E. Henley’s – Invictus written in 1875:
Out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate, how charged with punishment the scroll.
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul...
