The Winston Area Community Partnership (WACP or ‘Wake Up’) was formed in 1999 in response to the deaths of two local middle school students. These students died tragically by firearms within five weeks of each other. The shock of these incidents galvanized community leaders into action. They decided it was time to ‘wake up’ Winston and join together in an effort to improve their community.
WACP encompasses the rural community of Winston and the outlying communities of Dillard, Lookingglass, Olalla and Tenmile, Camas Valley and Green. Through generous contributions, grants, and volunteer hours, the organization has successfully enhanced community services, completed beautification projects and facilitated collaboration throughout the area. A detailed list of WACP’s successes can be explored here.
