ALAN WHITE SR.During his childhood Alan White Sr envisioned himself as being successful, despite his impoverished socio-economic background. This circumstance provided him with the fuel needed to achieve his long-term goals: improving his living situation, becoming a successful business entrepreneur and reaching back to help those that are less fortunate.
When Alan was introduced to Basketball his vision was clear. He knew that he had a talent that could be used to help him achieve his goals. Playing basketball helped Alan to develop his body, mind and promote a brotherhood that has continued to impact his adult life. |
Alan spent his spare time in the inner-city parks participating in athletics: running track, doing calisthenics and shooting hoops to improve his basketball skills. Later after countless hours spent in the gym shooting jump shots and receiving life lessons from the elders who later became Alan’s mentors, Alan was on his way. He was encouraged to join the Public-School Athletic League (NYC PSAL) All Star (PSAL).
Graduating high school was the first step in achieving his goals. This afforded him the opportunity to attend Keuka College where he majored in Business Management and minored in Marketing. Upon graduating from Keuka Alan left as the 2nd all -time leader in assist and 9th in scoring in Keuka’s history.
Approaching his seventh year as the Executive Director of the Holcombe Rucker Community League Inc, Alan is excited about the direction in which he is steering the organization. Alan’s vision for the future is to showcase the organization in the next three to five years as more than just a basketball league by highlighting various programs such as: a summer and winter league, mentorship program, financial literacy, Rucker Ambassador Sports Management Program, sleep away camp, and health awareness (cardiac and concussion screenings for young athletes).
