Clyde's Story
Clyde’s life began in the harshest of circumstances being dumped on the streets to fend for himself. A large white scruffy dog was found roaming alone, searching for food, shelter, and a sign of kindness. His fur was matted, his eyes tired, and his spirit weighed down by the uncertainty of life on his own. He was a survivor, but he needed help. And that's when the team at Paws and Claws Resource Center and Doggie Drop Inn Kennels came to his rescue.
As soon as Clyde arrived at Doggie Drop Inn, Helen and Lynne could see the potential in him—a gentle soul who just needed love and care to heal. Together as a team, Paws and Claws Resource Center and Doggie Drop Inn gave him a warm bed, nutritious food, and much needed medical care. Over the next several weeks, his once-wary eyes softened, and his coat began to shine. But despite the improvements, he still needed more. He needed a family, someone to truly show him what it meant to belong.
That's when Dale and Jackie came into the picture. They heard Clyde’s story and acted immediately to become his foster family. After a quick meet-and-greet, they decided to open their hearts and home to him. The transition was easier than expected and their two little Yorkies accepted Clyde quickly into the home. Dale and Jackie were patient and understanding. They gave him space when he needed it, but also plenty of love and encouragement to help him feel safe.
As the days turned into weeks, Clyde began to trust more. Dale and Jackie showered him with affection and most importantly, showing him that he was wanted and loved. They could see the progress, but they also knew that Clyde had so much more to offer. He was kind, gentle, and affectionate traits that anyone would be lucky to experience.
And then, as if it were meant to be, during a board meeting at our Paws and Claws Resource Center, we were discussing Clyde and his need for a forever family. That's when Blake spoke up, sharing that after the loss of a beloved member of their doggy family, he and his wife, Joan, were starting to consider adopting again. He mentioned that, of course, he'd need to discuss it further with her and set up a meeting between their current dog, Bosque, and Clyde. The dogs met at Paws and Claws Resource Center HQ, and it felt like a perfect fit, and everyone could sense that something special was about to happen.
When Clyde met Bosque for the first time, there was an instant connection between the two dogs. Bosque, a friendly and playful large Shepard mix, approached Clyde with a wagging tail and a curious sniff, while Clyde, initially a little cautious, responded with a gentle nudge of his own. It didn’t take long for them to find common ground—before anyone could blink, the two were chasing each other around, tails wagging furiously. Clyde seemed to light up in Bosque’s company, matching his new friend’s playful energy. It was clear from that moment that Clyde had found not only a loving family but also a new best friend in Bosque.
Clyde’s journey had taken him from the rough streets to a loving foster home and, finally, to his furever family. He had been saved, loved, and cherished every step of the way, and now, with Bosque by his side and the Holman's in his corner, he had found his place in the world. His story was one of resilience, hope, and the power of a second chance.
As Clyde lay beside Bosque, basking in the warmth of a home filled with love, Clyde knew that he had finally found where he belonged. Forever
