In 2022, SOULWELL began its first SOULWELL School of Spiritual Direction. We have now completed two full years of the program, graduating 14 people from the One Year Program and 4 people from the Two Year Program. 

The ministry vision is to see the whole world set free, each life transformed and living passionately for God’s glory.  Our mission is  to change lives and legacies by inviting people to live in freedom through the transformational power of Christ. Our Spiritual Direction School allows us to enlarge the scope of that mission.


Year 1 of the SD School serves to develop a volunteer base for the SOULWELL Journey’s. In accordance with the accepted spiritual direction practices within the country (Spiritual Directors Institute (SDI) and Grafted Lifes member organization ESDA and others), we added a Year 2 for those who want to develop a ministry of Spiritual Direction that serves the community at large as well as the SOULWELL Journey’s.  
Graduates will be able to:

• Exhibit an understanding of the foundations and theology of spiritual formation, spiritual direction and inner healing;
• Learn to understand trauma in everyday life and the paths to inner healing;
• Communicate an understanding of the thread of God’s finger within a person’s life story; 
• Learn to identify and understand important moments in life and story to include the application of basic social and behavioral skills;
• Utilize and explore various Ignatian practices;
• Support directees in their own noticing and healing capacities with solid theological reasoning.

YEAR 1 

• Pre-requisites:
  • Complete the SOULWELL Journey Retreat Program
  • Register for at least one IHP session either during retreat or before beginning Module 1
  • Begin to work with a personal Spiritual Director, minimum 3 months, prior to start date of School
  • Serve successfully as a team member; minimum 1 Journey
• Dates:
  • Five (5), Two Day In-Person retreats
    • Fridays, 6:00-9:30 (dinner included)
    • Saturdays,, 10:00 -6:00 (lunch included)
      • Module 1— 03/08-03/09
      • Module 2— 05/17-05/18
      • Module 3— 07/27-07/28
      • Module 4— 09/13-09/14
      • Module 5—11/02-11/03
  • Three (3) Supervision sessions between Modules 2 and 5 via Google Meet
  • A final Summary Paper by October 25, 2024
