Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Position Details

Position Description
LVN at Kirkland Ministries Inc (KM-Inc.) provides care to intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals in a residential and/or in-home setting. The LVN is responsible for providing direct care under the supervision of KM-Inc RN. Utilizes technical knowledge to evaluate needs and assist RN. LVN will be required to assist in treatment planning to ensure that the permanency, safety, and overall well-being of the residents served are met.
Position Duties
LVN duties include, but not limited to:
- Monitor KM-Inc resident conditions
- Provide care for wounds
- Administer medication
- Assist individuals with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene associated with wound care.
- Work with families of individuals to teach how to provide follow-up care.
- Document care per KM-Inc policy
- Stock and order medications for residents.
- Check medical equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned and delegated by RN.
- Maintain knowledge of mental health, mental illness, and appropriate manner to document concerns.
- Respond to crisis situations regarding resident behaviors.
- Models appropriate behavior interventions for LVN/CNA/Unlicensed Personnel.
- Train LVN/CNA on comprehending the importance of mental health and crisis safety (Seeking Safety Training).
- Participate in on-going training for continuous competence.
- Participates in an interdisciplinary team to help manage resident medical, dental, and psychiatric needs.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director, Operations Director, or Delegating RN.
Requirements
LVN candidates must meet the following requirements:
- 18 years or older
- Graduate from an approved training program.
- Possess and maintain a State Licensed Practical Nursing License.
- Have at least 1 year of specialty experience.
- Certified copy of a three-year driving record from the DMV.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, physical exam, and a criminal background check.
- Ability to work in a residential and non-residential setting.
Required License or Certification
LVN candidates must have the following:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Current Automotive Insurance
- Current Vehicle Inspection and Registration.
