CURRENT NEEDS
|
WHAT TO EXPECTWe try to keep our shops as low-stress environments where volunteers can come to fix bikes at their own pace. We don’t have quotas or make production demands. We do, however, expect volunteers to be diligent about their work and respectful of others while they are in the shop. Volunteers who violate this policy will be asked to leave. The only real requirement is that we ask all volunteers fill out some personal information and sign a waiver before they begin.
Generally, our shops are not the best place for young children. Teenagers who are accompanied by an adult are welcome to join us. We do our best to accommodate volunteers with disabilities, but obviously, bike repair work does require some lifting, turning wrenches, operating hand tools. We welcome groups of volunteers and ask that you schedule your sessions with our Operations Manager. |
VOLUNTEER FAQS
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?
Volunteering is easy! Just sign up for an orientation, sign a waiver, and let the repairs begin. We're open on Monday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m., on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. -Noon, and Saturdays (Rogers and Bentonville only) from 9 a.m. - Noon.
CAN LARGE GROUPS VOLUNTEER TOGETHER?
Our shops can accommodate up to seven volunteer bike mechanics at one time. If your group is larger than seven, we can explore other options, including helping with deliveries, splitting your group into different shifts, helping with other needs in the shop, etc. Send us a note through our contact page or reach out to our Operations Manager directly at [email protected] to make special arrangements for your group.
IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT TO VOLUNTEER?
Generally, our shops are not the best place for young children. Teenagers who are accompanied by an adult are welcome to join us in volunteering at the shops. Volunteers are required to complete a Release Form. Anyone under age must have an authorized adult sign their Release Form.
GROUPS & TEAM BUILDING
Volunteering as a group is not only great for team building, but also helps programs like ours. We rely on volunteers to help repair bikes and get them rolling out to those in need. So if you have a church group, community group, business group, or group of philanthropic friends, we welcome you!
Our shops can accommodate up to eight volunteer bike mechanics at one time. If your group is larger than eight, we can still explore other options, including helping with deliveries, splitting your group into different shifts, or helping with other needs in the shop. Contact our Operations Manager to work out the details! |
