Call for Art is Open
We invite artists, creatives, and innovators to propose ideas for artistic endeavors centered around light as the primary medium or focal point. All artistic mediums are welcome. We are particularly enthusiastic about showcasing works closely aligned with the theme of light, including light installations, projection art, light mapping, sculptures, interactive installations, video art, augmented reality experiences, and other innovative light-themed creations.

Unite to Light the Night is a fundraiser and light art exhibition celebrating the power of light. This annual event merges art, community, and social impact into immersive experiences over two evenings. The event supports our mission to bring light and power to the one billion people who live without light at night. This year’s event will be held on October 18 & 19, 2024. Read about the event here.
Our Mission
Unite to Light manufactures and distributes solar lights and solar chargers so people can live and thrive. Our mission is to create access to clean and affordable light and energy to those living without electricity, which is critical to improving health, education and prosperity.
Unite to Light the Night is an annual fundraiser and light art festival that explores our relationship with light and power. We are looking for artists to create and exhibit light-centered artwork that connects with Unite to Light’s mission pillars.

- EDUCATION: Partner with schools to create light libraries using our Luke Lights enabling students to study at night.
- GLOBAL HEALTH: Equip midwives with solar lights and chargers to safely deliver babies and save lives.
- DISASTER RESPONSE & HOMELESSNESS: Respond by providing solar lights and chargers to those affected by poverty and emergencies.
- CLIMATE CHANGE: Replace kerosene lamps with solar lights decreasing greenhouse gasses and air pollutants.
- REFUGEES: Address the growing crises to lives affected by conflict, persecution, and the detrimental impacts of climate change.
Artwork Submission Instruction and Requirements
1. You must be 18 years or older to submit an entry.
2. Submit one dedicated form for each artwork/project/idea.
3. Multiple entries are welcome, but they need to be submitted using individual submission forms.
4. If multiple artists and creators are collaborating on a single artwork, they should use only one form.
5. Works should align with Unite to Light’s Mission outlined above..
6. Works need to align with the CRITERIA outlined above.

Creative Mediums
We are seeking artistic works where light is the medium or main focus. Mediums may include augmented reality, interactive works, light installations, projection art and light mapping, sculpture, video, and other innovative light-themed works. In addition we also welcome submissions of flat works, such as paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs. These pieces can utilize light as a central element or explore themes related to light in various creative ways.
Art Grant Application Instructions
1. Art Grants are available for projects of up to $1,000. Unite to Light reserves the right to determine the final amount.
2. Must be 18 years or older to apply for an artist grant.
3. Prior to applying for an Art Grant, first submit artwork/project/idea through the 2024 Call for Artist Submission Form.
4. One Art Grant application is allowed per artwork submission.
5. All grantees must complete an Art Grant Report within one after the Light Art Exhibition. Template will be supplied.
6. Application deadline: Friday, June 14, 2024, 11:59 PM PT.
7. Art Grant Deadline: June 14, 2024. Selected grantees will be notified by July 19, 2024.
8. Unite to Light will award the grant monies to selected grantees upon receiving a W-9 from the grantee.
