We are extremely proud to have this status from the IRS.  It has allowed us access to lower cost supplies and the ability to generate additional funds to expand our outreach efforts as well as providing the best care for all the animals with us!

Family Operated Business

Cassandra comes from a long line of animal lovers who always tried to help any animal in need that came across their path.  She started off helping animals they found or heard needed help in the central coast of California.  When Cassandra decided to relocate to Mexico in 2017 she found an overwhelming amount of animals needing help.  The rescued expanded from 1-5 animals in the beginning to over 50 in our care by 2018.  Cassandra realized she wanted to make the leap so in 2020 she gave up her full time job and immersed herself in the rescue full time.  It quickly grew to over 100 animals in our care!  In the Fall of 2020 Cassandra's parents, Bob and Denise, came on full time as well!  We now house and care for over 100 animals at any given time!

​Working together as a family is nothing new to us.  Cassandra and her parents owned an automotive repair shop together for many years.  But Bob suffered many health issues as he got older and could no longer work the demanding schedule needed to run the shop.  So he and Denise retired, or so they thought.  When they first had the opportunity to foster for the rescue they found the perfect thing to add enjoyment to their retirement!  Their involvement grew daily and before they knew it they were taking the plunge to becoming fully involved in the rescue!  While working with family can present its own challenges we have found that we all bring a unique perspective and skill set.  So we refine, encourage, support, and correct each other to be our best versions of ourselves and in turn give every animal here our best!

We Do Not Euthanize!

This is something very near and dear to our hearts!  We do not euthanize unless it is time, but many don't understand what this means.  For example, a dog comes in and is diagnosed with a terminal disease or one with a low long term survival rate despite treatment.  We now have one goal for that dog, giving it the best life ever for whatever time it has left.  They learn about beach days, one on one time, sleeping in bed (if possible), etc.  While they are experiencing all this we watch for 5 things daily, Eating, Drinking, Peeing, Pooping, and Playing.  In addition we watch for any signs of pain.  At the point they are down to 2 of the 5 things for at least 24 hours then it is time to say our goodbyes.  The only exception is dogs that are terminal and in extreme pain that cannot be managed with medication.  We never want an animal to suffer, but we also don't want to treat life as meaningless.

​We pride ourselves on giving our golden kids the best life possible for whatever time they have left.  Life was not kind to them or they wouldn't be with us.  Whether they are here for hours, day, or years while in the golden stage we make sure they know they are loved and valued and when the time comes they pass with love, dignity, and one of us holding their paw.  After they are gone we cremate their remains to be added to a beautiful memorial garden and have their pawprint framed.  Though many may have seen them and not paid attention we make it a point to honor their memory and value their impact on our lives.
