Expeditions

Expeditions

Plastic is an amazing material with innumerable uses; medical devices, plumbing and car parts, children’s toys, cell phones, and computer cases. It is literally woven into the fabric of our lives.

But the tenacious grip of poorly managed plastic waste is invading every corner of our world, from raw Alaskan wilderness to tropical Brazil. COI believes it is valuable for humanity to see what is going on for itself. Our sailing expeditions conducted aboard our now retired 60' Catamaran named "Pono" (meaning "Do what is right" in Hawaiian), took hundreds of interested team members to a variety of destinations to share knowledge and learn from others. We also conducted many expeditions where we flew or drove, depending on location. These cleanup and educational voyages taught thousands of people about the perils of poorly managed plastic waste.
