What is a chapter? Each chapter of National Angels is a separately incorporated non-profit that has their own boards of directors, raises their own funds, and is responsible for their own programs, referral agency relationships, volunteers and so on. National Angels chapters are covered as IRS 501(c)(3) organizations as subordinates under the group exemption of Transformations by Austin Angels, which is an IRS 501(c)(3) organization.
Who can start a chapter? Chapters are formed by individuals who desire to create sustainable change in the foster care system in their community. Having identified regional needs and resources, they have determined that the National Angels programs would benefit their areas. Chapter Presidents should exhibit the personal and professional qualities associated with those in a leadership role, should have professional experience, excellent communication skills, and management experience.
What should you consider before starting a chapter? Starting a National Angels chapter in your city is an exciting and rewarding experience but also a serious endeavor. You will become a part of and gain access to a network of passionate, inclusive leaders who are committed to changing the way that children and families experience the foster care system.
A few things to consider before starting
You must be passionate and committed to our mission.
Opening a chapter requires large amounts of time and energy––something for which founders must be prepared.
Starting a chapter requires funding. All chapters must fundraise a minimum amount in order to become a part of National Angels.
You will need to recruit a reliable board of directors and volunteers, build relationships with placement agencies, create marketing strategies, establish accounting systems, launch programs and much, much more.
Benefits and responsibilities
Chapters of National Angels enjoy many advantages as part of our network, yet also have a number of shared responsibilities. All chapters:
are separately incorporated non-profits that have their own boards of directors and raise their own funds.
provide support and community to the foster care community in their region through the Love Box and Dare to Dream programs.
are members of National Angels network and therefore must pay an annual affiliation fee and abide by trademark and affiliation agreements and policies.

Annual marketing toolkits for National Foster Care Month and Giving Tuesday are provided and benefit all chapters by increasing awareness about the organization.
Monthly Presidents/ED Leadership calls with Executive Team (CEO, CFO, CMO, and CPO) to discuss best practices, goals, challenges, etc.
