- Music4Sight’s mission is to provide essential services for musicians to protect healthy eyesight, irrespective of their ability to individually pay for services.
- While medical plans may address sight threatening conditions or diseases, most do NOTcover basic routine vision care, such as testing visual acuity and performing glaucoma screenings.
About Dr. Rob Feinfield, M.D. & Musician
From the operating room to the recording studio, Dr. Rob Feinfield has found a unique way to combine his profession with his personal passion for music. Founding Music4Sight in 2008, Feinfield knew he wanted to use his ophthalmologic skills to assist musicians who did not have the resources for vision insurance.

“I’ve been interested in music since I was a little kid, taking piano lessons when I was seven or eight,” Feinfield recalls.
“I remember being fascinated with Aretha’s ‘Respect’, and after rebelling against tedious piano practice sessions, I eventually turned to the guitar in my teenage years. There’s always just been something so inspiring and healing about music.” |

Over the years, Dr. Feinfeild’s yearly infamous jam sessions in his backyard attracted world-renowned sidemen like drummer Jim Keltner (Eric Clapton, Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John); guitarist/songwriter Johnny Lee Schell (Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, B.B. King, Taj Mahal); and saxophonist Joe Sublett (Taj Mahal, Blues Bros Band, Bonnie Raitt).
“Being around all these great musicians, I finally got the itch to produce a CD,” Feinfield concedes.
“I went out on a talent search and found a country/rock singer/songwriter, Nicole Gordon, at Kulak’s Woodshed in North Hollywood. I loved her unique vocals, and thought she’d be a perfect match to collaborate with myself and Barry on creating a CD.”

In 2008, “Long Time” was released with 11 tracks, including the lead song, “Into the Light, Out of the Darkness”, co-written by Feinfield, Goldberg and Gordon.
This song was featured in the “ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital – Vietnam 2010” music video. The album was used to promote donations for vision care throughout the world. In 2010, Feinfield’s Music4Sight became an official Advocate for Sight of ORBIS International supporting its work in developing countries to save sight. |
“Right now, I’m creating a stand-alone identity for Music4Sight so that we can concentrate on addressing the eye care needs of musicians in southern California, aligning our efforts with existing non-profits like MusicCares and Sweet Relief,” Feinfield concludes.
“We want to be able to help those musicians who may not currently be able to help themselves.“ |
