Brian O’Connor (aka BOC) needs our help and support. BOC was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2010 and has been battling it ever since.
For the past nine years, the cancer has spread and now has made even the best of his days difficult to manage. Brian has been forced to give up touring, and even more recently has had to stop doing the odd jobs that have helped support him as he stayed close to home, his family, and his physicians.
Not being able to afford insurance, he no longer has access to the oncology team that he has been working with, or an affordable co-pay for the medications that he requires. He has resorted to a list of general practitioners available through MediCal. Brian is now in need of a defibrillator, and several other treatments.
We are looking to his friends, family, and fans for support.
Brian has accomplished much in his life: He grew up playing in his family band The Country Bugs; he worked felling trees in the Pacific Northwest; and he toured as a musician, playing for hundreds of thousands in Eagles Of Death Metal and Mojave Lords. He’s a father, a son, a friend, a mentor, and an inspiration. Odds are, BOC has touched your life in some way.
It is our privilege as a community to take care of our neighbor, so if he’s ever melted your face with his bass, or melted your heart with his genuine kindness, we’re asking you to lend a hand as best you can now. Any donations will help with the cost of insurance, past medical bills, upcoming treatment and procedures, and daily living expenses.
Please give anything you can. Any amount can make a difference.
