MATTHEW TROY SCOGGINS
Sunrise: January 14, 1980 - Baltimore
Sunset: March 23, 2021 - Los Angeles
A gentle, kind, loving, caring and giving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin. A loyal and trustworthy friend to hundreds of wonderful people. A whole-heartedly devoted and creative bandmate mastering guitar and drums. Lyrics constantly dancing in his head. This was evident by the numerous songs and records written and produced by Matt and other gifted collaborators for their beloved bands. A consummate audio engineer who could solve any problem posed to him. He was known to many as "P-Touch" or "The Captain." Every gig had to be mixed to perfection.
Matt was born to live and breathe music! It was his passion, his hobby, his work...his entire life! It made him deliriously happy and truly fulfilled! His career took him on tour to every US state, most European countries, Japan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada. He always said he was "so blessed!"
Matt's collection of guitars, amps, drum kits and odd instruments was massive and has been passed on to family members and close friends. He was also an avid collector of everything Star Wars, comic books, records and books. Exploring nature was close to Matt's heart. Whether it was skydiving, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, snowboarding, four-wheeling, riding an elephant in the jungle, swimming in the Dead Sea, hiking the rainforest, camping in the desert, climbing Diamondhead, running the LA Marathon or just taking a moment out of his day to stop and feed a squirrel.
Matt left us entirely too soon and he will be desperately missed but never forgotten. He will be loved always and in all ways. Hopefully, his favorite quote will be an inspiration to all... "LIVE IN THE NOW!" -mts

Donations to Sweet Relief's General Fund go towards helping music industry professionals that do not have a community of support that is willing and able to help out. You may not know their names, but their contributions to music are just as important and your generosity towards helping them is both crucial and appreciated.
