Aspiring to change the world
Alana Anthony,
Attending Messiah College, Class of 2017 Major: Elementary Education Update as of October, 2014 Alana began this school year a bit challenged with time management. In developing a passion for Social Justice, she initially signed up for quite a load. She arrived back to school a week early to train for a new job with her school’s “hub of service-learning," The Agape Center, as event organizer for Agape’s Human Rights Organization. Now, after organizing several campus wide discussion events, she can go back to focusing on her studies and is excited about her class schedule. Alana also was excited to learn she was accepted into a special interest house on campus called the Social Justice House. “This house is a place where female students passionate about Social Justice can come together and partner with different organizations on and off campus to have and host human rights events of our choice. This is really exciting because it ties directly into my job and now that I've been trained on how to plan events I can use my new skills as a resource for the house,” says Alana. Obviously, this young lady is looking to inspire more generations to come and we are inspired to see what is next. But don’t forget to keep up your excellent GPA, Alana! |
