The coronavirus COVID-19 situation is evolving rapidly. In the interest of concerns and questions that the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust is receiving regarding the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, The Founders and the Advisory Board offers the following statement: these conditions, the following precautionary steps are highly recommended:
- Wash your hands as thoroughly and as often as possible.
- Follow best practices for general health and wellness such as getting plenty of rest, stay hydrated and continue a well-balanced diet including fruits and vegetables.
- Avoid touching public surfaces and reduce the amount you touch your face.
- If there are many cases in your area, avoid crowds and public events
- Wear a mask if you have a fever or cough and stay at home if possible until it subsides.
- If you develop symptoms of fever with cough or shortness of breath, please contact your primary care physician.
- We encourage anyone looking for further information to seek reliable news sources. The Trust relies on the Center for Disease Control for updates on COVID-19. Their website can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/. We will provide updates as information is made available.

Mr. Broddie was the keynote Speaker at the Fredrick Douglas High Schools P-TECH program. The P-Tech program represents the best of what public-private partnerships can look like, with students taking high school and college coursework simultaneously and engaging in industry-guided workforce development.

Letter from the Co-Founder & CEO
As we close out 2018 it seems like a great time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished, the journey we’ve taken to get to where we are and the plans we have for an exciting, bright future.
I’d like to start by telling you how much I appreciate each member of the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust board, , mentors and named scholarhip funders. My team and I recognize we wouldn’t be where we are without the contributions made by each and every one of our supporters . Thank you. Last year was a year of growth, change and transition. At the beginning of last year, the executive team invited Tierra Snowden Trust scholar 2005 and Terence Brownlee Trust scholar 2015 to become a member of the board. Both are a great addition to our board , because they both realized their dream of receiving their under graduate and graduate degrees. Since joining us they have made huge strides in expanding our work within our student relations , implementing best practices in recruiting, operations management and service delivery. We still needed expertise in matters of HR, Finance, Contracts and Mentoring We looking forward to our executive board members with proven expertise “been there done that” in these various vocations to help get us to the next level. In 2018 Erica Matthews joined us as The Board Adminitrator and Sally Lund Finance consultant/HR. They brought with them a breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise which was just what we needed. The last “missing piece” was expertise in driving operations, and specific business development know-how with our donors and supports . We got that in December 2017 when we brought Eric Elston onboard. Eric’s 25 years of experience supporting and managing education information technology programs, particularly in the in the student relations community, gives us depth in all phases of student delivery and operations. Lastly we brought on Jackie Dee . Jackie is going to be the one to drive the development of our best practices and the corporate discipline we need to build consistency in our IT services delivery across our funding base. She will also use her experience to help create a framework that The Trust will use to improve our website and social media and to effectively manage our new donors. Our executive team is complete, symbiotic and fully functional! We are proving the old adage that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With the executive team in place and with the help of our awesome team . We are really making strides in achieving our strategic goal of transforming our service offerings into core competencies, and increasing our programs and expanding our student funding rosters. We have earned a great reputation as a trusted partner to our Named Scholarship funders and, we want our reputation for excellence to spread to other areas within our student community. In a nutshell, that’s our goal for 2018-2019. We know that because of the efforts of our phenomenal team, we not only survived 2016 in a down economy, we thrived. We want 2019 to be even more successful for the Foundation and for you. It’s an incredible feeling to know that when I go out to supports – both existing and potential, that there’s no way I can oversell the competency and commitment of my team. Thank you for all you do.
