SMA MISSIONS
SMA Missions provides medical and spiritual assistance to children from vulnerable sectors of Mexican society in rural and marginal urban areas. We are establishing no cost Children’s Health Clinics. OUR FIRST CLINIC AND WAREHOUSE, SMA Missions Clinic will be launched in San Miguel de Allende (SMA), MX in 2026 dependent on funding and then expanding coverage to other under-served locales around the Bajio in Central Mexico. We are also committed to importing critical medical equipment and supplies for Mexican children in peril. Our partner medical establishments include: Hospital Joya, Hospital MAC, the SMA Dialysis Clinic (opening in March/April 2025), and others within the Bajio of Mexico are in process. In an agreement with Cheer-Up Missions (a U.S. 501(c)3) as their exclusive missionary partner in Mexico, we will be importing of 2-3 forty-foot shipping containers containing medical supplies and equipment in 2025 and 2026. Another partner, New Orleans Medical Missions Services (NOMMS) is providing additional medical equipment and supplies to insure availability for the children of Mexico. In January 2025, NOMMS and Cheer-Up Missions donated seven (7) Hemodialysis Phoenix Gambro Machines, one (1) Anesthesia Machine with EKG monitor, several examination tables and procedure chairs, Ten (10) pairs of crutches, twenty (20) walkers, a multi-screen X-Ray view box, and assorted medical supplies necessary to support suffering Mexican children. All of the Hemodialysis machines plus other medical supplies will be donated to the SMA Dialysis Clinic (another Asociación Civil (AC) located in San Miguel de Allende who will be providing treatment to the very poor and poor at no cost. |

- 32.1 % ages 0-4 years old have respiratory diseases untreated.
- 11.4% or 8.4 million of ages 20 years and over previously diagnosed with diabetes remain untreated.
- 47.7% of ages 20 and over, previously diagnosed with highly abnormal reports of cholesterol and triglyceride measurement remain untreated.
- 21.7%, aged 10-19 years consume alcohol and are preventative health is unavailable.
- 63.8% aged 20 and over consume alcohol with Men representing 80.6% of the population with 5.7% daily.
- 22.2% aged 0-4 years at risk are overweight which carries over to adulthood.
- At the national level, in 2018, the percentage of overweight adults over 20 years of age climbed from 71.3% to 75.2%.
- 39.1% aged 20 and older are overweight.
- 36.1% aged 20 and older suffer with obesity.
