Kyle HeinFounder & President
Kyle is the President/Founder of Mi Heroes Haven along with the creator of the Get Back Up PTS/Suicide prevention program. He's had a servant's heart since he was a child. Growing up in the Lansing area, Kyle later pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. During his colorful rollercoaster of a career, Kyle experienced a plethora of adversity. Multiple job-related injuries, including a traumatic brain injury in 2009, led Kyle down a really dark path that seemed hopeless. Kyle's father always encouraged him to be part of the solution and not the problem. Amongst rehab centers, job loss, suicide attempts, and many other troublesome circumstances, Kyle's never-quit mantra would ring true. The genesis of Heroes Haven (along with the Get Back Up program) would be a melting pot of defeats turned into victories and hope to give away to other people. Kyle also has an extensive history in the fitness community. He had a four-year contract with Optimum Nutrition as a CrossFit Athlete. Kyle and his late service dog (Honor) had the opportunity to travel the US and impact different veterans and first responders at CrossFit events and Spartan Races. He's also spoken within large corporations, military units, and police departments. His favorite was speaking to Chicago P.D. and their special units. During this season of his life, Kyle began a business venture to start a fitness center (ironically named Genesis) that would be another graves-into-gardens situation with what is now Mi Heroes Haven. This was also where Kyle began to lead a small church plant after being ordained. Kyle has served on the board of the Eaton Rapids Chamber of Commerce, among other volunteer efforts in his community. He has worked in the private sector as a private investigator and conducted executive protection for high-level executives. Kyle also helps facilitate and lead others who are in the world of recovery and battling addictions. His greatest adventure is his family. His continued knowledge of this work puts an emphasis on the truth that what we do is generational. Our kids are worth it! Kyles current adventure is helping aid in a new Get Back Up "Guide to Getting Unstuck" curriculum, along with planting new Heroes Haven Hubs across the U.S. He believes that if we're in fact a people with a solution, we must go meet those hurting where they are. In his eyes, a wounded healer is one of the greatest titles one could have. In fact, all of us have it within us. |
