What is an Ashram?
An ashram is a spiritual school, situated in a quiet and peaceful space, denoting a locus of activity centering on instruction and practice of Sanatana Dharma, Yoga, and related wisdom. An ashram provides many services to the community including asana and meditation classes, spiritual education, rituals, including homa and puja, and service based programs. People from all walks of life and from all spiritual and religious traditions can and do experience great benefits from visiting, learning, and practicing at the ashram.
Kula Kamala Foundation & Yoga Ashram is situated in the farm and forest region of Berks County, Pennsylvania. With 6.5 acres of carefully tapered organic landscape, the ashram is truly a sanctuary of peace and stillness for all. Walk the meditation path, traverse the labyrinth, stroll through the flower gardens, take a yoga class, sit in quiet contemplation, enjoy a delicious, healthy meal... all this and more is waiting here, for you. |
Teaching Lineage
Many spiritual teachings have been passed down by many great spiritual masters since time immemorial. We honor all teachings that contribute to the alleviation of suffering and which focus on unity of spirit. The ashram is grounded in the teachings of our founder, Swamini Shraddhananda Saraswati. Those teachings directly reflect Her lineage of teachers, including Her beloved guru Sri Swami Adhyatmananda Saraswati of the Sivananda tradition, and Her beloved preceptor, Sri Swami Pranavananda Saraswati of the Sri Vidya tradition.
The surname Saraswati belongs to the daśanāma sampradāya, or tradition of ten monastic (swami) orders. It represents 'those who are especially learned and wise.' Swaminiji entered the Saraswati order in 2019 when she embraced her monastic vows with the blessings of God & Guru on the banks of the River Ganga. |
