In-School Collaborations
Black Joy Superheroes with the Oakland Technical High School Fashion Academy
11th and 12th-grade student artists from the Oakland Technical High School Fashion Academy, OTFA, developed AfroComicCon cosplay-inspired characters, complete with five fashion illustration looks and a completed garment. Each character is inspired by students’ reflections about their own lives, and their designs are influenced by each character’s story and superpowers. Student work was shown at the Oakland Black Joy Festival in February 2024.
