HANDYMENSCH VOLUNTEERS
Yachad’s Handymensch program is a group of semi-skilled volunteers who work on a few repair projects a year. Volunteers must have some home repair experience, but can improve and learn new skills on the job. Groups of a few Handymensch go out quarterly to homes and non-profit sites with Yachad’s construction manager to tackle vital repairs.
NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR
The Neighbor to Neighbor program offers a group of volunteers (friends, student groups, business cohorts) a chance to have a hands-on-experience repairing an area house, group home or community center side-by-side with those being assisted. This program is ideal for individuals looking to host an event for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, bar/bat mitzvah), a team building exercise, or a group project. Hosts can customize their project's time, day, location, etc.
SUKKOT IN SPRING
Sukkot in Spring is Yachad's signature program. Since 1992 hundreds of single-family homes, group houses and community centers have been repaired. Yachad recruits area synagogues and other Jewish groups to tackle serious repairs for lower-income residents in our greater community. If you are an individual and a member of a local synagogue or Jewish group, please e-mail us to find out if your congregation is involved in this program.
