Our Mission
Montrose Veterans Memorial Coalition Mission Statement
The Montrose Veterans Memorial Coalition Foundation seeks to
create a Veterans Memorial at 1800 E. Pavilion Place to honor the
service of veterans from all wars and eras for their service to
preserve the freedoms offered in the United States Constitution.
We seek to honor these veterans for their service by providing a
memorial plaza that provides a peaceful environment that promotes
healing among all veterans, their families and friends. The
memorial will be a place where educational programs will help
students better understand the enormous sacrifice made in war to
preserve the freedoms we all enjoy. In doing this we will support
the accounting of Prisoners of War (POW) and those Missing in
Action (MIA) from all wars and support our military personnel all
over the world.

lives for his friends.” John 15:13
History of Montrose Veterans Memorial
In early 2021 US Marine veteran Mike Trickey, executive director
of Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans, had a vision for the
creation of a new and bold veterans memorial to honor the service
of veterans from the City of Montrose and Montrose County.
Trickey began his journey by sharing his vision with leaders
throughout the city and county.
During this time, Trickey began to develop interest from local
veteran service organizations including the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the
Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans. These organizations have
turned Trickey’s vision into a mission.
Fast forward to the fall of 2022: Finetuning of the engineering and
design infrastructure is added before beginning the work of
seeking community donations and ultimately beginning the
construction of the memorial.
A 501 (C)(3) non-profit corporation status was granted on
September 26, 2022. This milestone allows donors the opportunity
to write off their donations on their federal income tax. An eight-
member board of directors, representative of those serving in
Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the War on Terror, was established to
oversee the entire project. Moreover, skilled citizens from the
business community are participating in making this project a
success as members of the board. Trickey is a member of the board
as founder and advisor.
Currently, the project is moving forward with the sales of donor
bricks that will be displayed on the shoulders of the sidewalks of
the Memorial when its complete. The memorial also will have
memorial benches engraved with names supplied by donors.
Corporate donors are welcome. The first corporate donation was a
$10,000 gift from Spectrum Cable TV Service in Montrose.
If you would like to donate you can do that by visiting Montrose
