Desert Winds Freedom Band has grown to over 100 performing members! Staging a concert for a group this large is an expensive endeavor. Concert Venues in our valley are quite costly. Regular expenses such as rental of rehearsal space, music acquisition, and purchase and maintenance of large instruments like chimes, and xylophones are just a few examples of the costs needed to produce our concert programs.
Besides performing, the Band has a strong focus on Educational Outreach including a Scholarship Program and the Workshops we sponsor at local schools with our guest conductors and composers. Lastly, the Band has an interest in performing New Musical Compositions, often with a LGBTQ theme or composer. We are fortunate to have many generous donors and corporate sponsors.
