ABOUT ANNA BARASH
Anna has been involved in community diabetes support since well before she ever became a nurse. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just before her 2nd birthday. For the last 12 years, she has continuously worked and volunteered in diabetes summer camps, started and lead local support groups for individuals and families, been active with the JDRF Young Leadership Committee (YLC), and worked closely with Seattle Public Schools as a resource for school nurses, diabetes training, and PDA courses.
Through her nursing career over the last 8 years, Anna has worked in a variety of settings- from bedside nursing, to travel nursing, school nursing, to her current specialization in diabetes education and clinical research nursing at Benaroya Research Institute (partnered with Seattle Children’s Hospital). Her area of expertise is multifaceted, with continued community involvement, outreach education, support, and connection to current research for the type 1 diabetes community here in Seattle.
