Here at The Ribe Project, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all.  Two countries united to make a difference here in northern Uganda. Ribe is the Acholi word for unity, which is what we continually work for.

We believe opportunity is the key to success. We see amazing potential in our friends and neighbors, often alongside frustration with their inability to make that first step toward affecting change for their family and in their community. The Ribe Project can be that first step in the process.

Our Mission

Creating Global Citizens
​

​The Ribe Project strives to inspire, educate and empower women in northern Uganda by focusing on community unity and development. Our goal is to provide vocational training along with sustainable employment at a fair wage,  to women in need. Our programs allow these women to reach their untapped potential, create economic growth, and in turn aid their families and community.

Our Work in Action

​The Ribe Project provides micro-finance loans, fair wage employment, vocational training, mentorship and access to financial services. Our programs are locally developed to address the needs of each individual. 

Our curriculum provides life and livelihood trainings including vocational skills as well as personal and community wellness training. Classes in finance management and saving teach clients key concepts in operating a successful business.

Client Selection

Serving Women in Vulnerable Situations

​​Nearly 800 million people live in extreme poverty globally. We work with our local partners to identify those who need our program the most, making young mothers, former abductees and those affected by HIV a priority. Applicants qualify for our program based on a needs-assessment survey, which is part of our selection process.

Life and Livelihood Skills Training

Sustainable Changes

At The Ribe Project, we are dedicated to supporting individuals in their efforts to empower themselves. Our training curriculum provides our participants with the knowledge needed to greatly improve their economic and social situation. Often, these skills then provide families the ability to stay together. With equal access to resources, people around the world grow to become empowered individuals with the ability to chase their dreams and use the tools they need to build the life they want.

Micro-Finance Loans

Fulfilling Dreams

People living in extreme poverty want to end their reliance on emergency aid to meet their needs. Our participants want the opportunity to improve the lives of their families.  With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. Providing micro-finance loans to our artisans allows them to pursue their own passions in addition to working with our program. Education in financial literacy, creating business plans, and opening savings accounts can allow this empowerment to begin. ​
