THE BLUE SUNDAY SERIES AT THE TORCH RETURNS ON MAY 29, 2022!
Almost Blue is a Sacramento band specializing in Blues, with some R&B Classic rock thrown in
occasionally just for the fun of it.
The band is fronted by Rob Riggle, no not the actor, on rhythm guitar, harmonica, and vocals
Rob has been playing music since 1966, he started on harmonica, then learned bass, guitar, and mixing
and producing. Has been all over Europe and has been studying music all of his life, and that's a long time.
Clint Reis is a Sacramento-based drummer influenced by all of the greats across all genres. This love for
drumming has made him a sought after drummer in the area for years. If you go see bands in
Sacramento, you may not know the name but you'll know the face.
Rob and Clint are always joined by bassists and guitarists from the area depending on availability, but
most of the time it is: Daryl Roland on guitar and vocals, and Laura Sterner on bass and vocals. Rob and Laura are Birthday
twins. Our goal is to have fun, make great music, and get you on the dance floor, so come on out and have a
blast.

It was full-on RESPECT. Tears, laughter, stories, and a crowded stage of musicians of the highest caliber ON FIRE. After nearly two years to the day of Little Charlie Baty’s sudden passing, Rick Estrin and the Nightcats (both present and past) gathered together again on a hometown stage to finally give their friend and founder of the Nightcats a proper salute. A grateful sold-out house circled the stage, a unified body of loving arms and cheering voices.
A portion of 3/10/2022 concert net proceeds was donated by the band to Sacramento Blues Society's newly created Little Charlie Baty Scholarship Fund. |

THE BLUE SUNDAY SERIES AT THE TORCH RETURNS ON April 24, 2022!
A new monthly Sunday Blues Series at the Torch Club started last summer featuring SBS member bands. The "Blue Sunday" Series is coordinated by SBS Board members, Cari Chenkin and Sally Katen.
Our upcoming April show is:
Melonnee Desiree & The LockedDownTight Band
Sun., April 24
The Torch Club 904 15th Street (Between I and J Streets), Sacramento
4pm - 7pm
$10/SBS members / $12/General
Melonnee Desireé on bass and lead vocals, fronts this excellent, powerful, energized band of musicians that plays rock blues and R&B. They keep audiences entertained and the dance floor packed…and coming back for more!
Melonnee is a native of Sacramento who started playing and singing music professionally at age 13. She comes from a family of musicians- her mother Doris Conn who was a singer back in the day with The Dick James Orchestra, and Melonnee’s uncle, Stan Mustoe, a drummer with the well-known band “The Spiral Staircase." Melonnee is a seasoned pro vocalist and musician and songwriter with several CDs of her original music, produced and engineered by David Houston. She is the heart of her LockedDownTight Band, along with seasoned, excellent veteran musicians who Melonnee has played with in numerous bands and projects for over 30 years. They are William Guevara, lead guitar; Jim Becker on drums, and Michael Otwell on sax. They all have a passion for edgy blues rock and R&B and they play it well. They work with other excellent seasoned musicians who play with them, such as Michael Otwell and Eric Vanberg on sax, and Jimmy Malone on keyboards.
Melonnee has written, recorded and produced numerous original songs of her own. As with most, Melonnee and her band like to take a song and give it their "own twist" and interpretation. She says: "Bottom line is - no matter who is playing it, or at whatever age - music should evoke emotion in people - whether from a driving intense Classic Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk and Soul song, to a soft mellow love ballad. My philosophy is that when people come to see and hear me, or me and my band, our goal is to have them FEEL the music in their gut, heart and soul and be moved by it. And of course, dance their heart out too if there's room for it and it fits the gig and venue. Music, rhythm and harmony are Universal, and can bring and connect people together like nothing else can…”
