About Our OrganizationThe Orange County Heritage Council (OCHC) is a 501 (c) 3 organization, consisting of a group of dedicated community volunteers focused on the Black community and development of events and activities that promote positive family and cultural interaction.
Community businesses, organizations, churches, and philanthropists are encouraged to support the events offered by the OCHC, because the organization is a community sponsored endeavor. The primary events organized and offered to the whole community are the Black History Parade & Unity Festival and the OC Juneteenth Celebration. The OC Black History Parade & Unity Festival is always held the 1st Saturday in February, which has been designated nationally as Black History Month. The event is currently held in Anaheim, California rain or shine beginning at 9AM and ending at 5 PM. Members of the community regardless of race, color, ethnicity or culture are invited to the event to enjoy a well attended parade which includes noted community members, elected officials, community groups, school and church units, singing and dancing units, city service vehicles, and community members who have participated in the history of Orange County and surrounding areas. Immediately following the Black History Parade is a Unity Festival (also known as the Black Cultural Faire) offering interactive lessons on black history in the Youth Village, live music and dance entertainment, business connections and information, health information and screenings, activities for young people, college fair, food booths run by community groups and food trucks from local restaurants, and an art exhibition.
