Scene Study, Play Analysis and Character Building
The Vortex presents an exciting opportunity to begin and improve your acting skills with work on a new play, True Will by Bill Triplett. Led by Barry Hazen, experienced actor, director and educator, and the playwright, this class will give you an opportunity to to focus on script analysis (what makes a script tick, where does your character fit and how does it move the action), how to build your character with honesty and passion, and improvisational skills. The class takes place on 3 Saturdays beginning August 23rd and culminates in a semi-staged reading of the script on September 7th.

New Play Readings
The Vortex has produced numerous national and international premieres in its 48-year history, many of these by New Mexico Playwrights. In our efforts to locate fresh opportunities and to support the development of new works, we regularly present semi-staged readings of new works followed by feedback sessions with the playwright and director.
If you are a playwright, interested in hearing your work, please email [email protected] and attach a copy of your script.
