The Environs
The property is backed up to one of the largest undeveloped areas east of the Mississippi. Several mountains between 4000 and 4500 feet in elevation are accessible by foot without crossing a paved road. Cross the paved road and you enter over 47,000 acres of Wilderness. |
The Land
The Yew Mountain Center occupies 500 acres on the eastern slope of Jacox Knob. 450 of the acres are maturing upland hardwood forest with several miles of trails. About 50 acres are in pasture, old fields and ponds. The closest pond to the lodge is great for swimming, fishing and canoeing |
The Lodge
Our lodge features a central great room with stone fireplace, a commercial kitchen, a dining/meeting room and six guest rooms, each with a private bath. There is a large deck on the eastern side of the building and a covered porch on the west. Lodge Map (not drawn to scale) |
FACILITIES RENTAL
The Yew Mountain Center is a naturalist's paradise--ideal for students, researchers, and artists. Groups and individuals looking for a wilderness experience, a meeting place, a field research lab, or an orientation experience for the natural sciences will be right at home here. The beautiful natural setting is an ideal rustic wedding venue. We can supplement conferences and retreats with in-house educational programs or nature activities. Priority is given to groups doing work that aligns with our mission and discounts are available for WV based groups and non-profits. We also offer B&B style lodging as our schedule allows.
