Ibie Hart

JD, MPP

"Throughout my adulthood, I have had multiple family members die of cancer and struggle with high blood pressure or diabetes. I live on the South Side where food insecurity is prevalent and I have personally experienced the hardships of accessing healthcare even though I have a full time job. On top of that, I am fully aware that because I am black, I have an increased chance of losing my life if I choose to give birth. I believe in Millennial Beacon because it is for us by us. The Black innovators housed in Millennial Beacon will have lived experiences that enable them to tailor the solutions they create in ways that others may not be able to. The problem is access and when Millennial Beacon provides Black innovators with the space, technology, research, and connections to work on their ideas - our solutions will be specialized to increase the health of Black communities. In many places across the world, it has been boldly stated that Black lives matter. However, all the policy changes that are being fought for will have no true impact if those lives continue to be less than a priority in our healthcare system.”

Ibie is the owner of the equity consulting business named Hart for Change and consulted on Millennial Beacon from the very beginning. She achieved her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Public Policy in 2016 from Loyola University Chicago.
