​What We Do

Millennial Beacon is a healthcare incubator based on the South Side of Chicago that develops solutions aimed at improving the factors that determine health in overlooked populations. As an incubator, we provide new start-ups with exclusive access to our relationships and resources — minimizing the barrier to entry in entrepreneurship that so often prevents Black innovators from partaking. We aim to diversify the talent pool in healthcare innovation, creating a pipeline for Black leadership in solution development and creating measurable positive impacts on health outcomes in Black communities.

​Many residents of the South Side have limited exposure to resources or community infrastructure and they are desperately in need of greater innovation in their neighborhoods. Millennial Beacon will amplify the impact of ongoing innovation in healthcare, expanding access and scaling up innovation to places that were once thought to be impenetrable by traditional healthcare institutions. Millennial Beacon’s unique role within the community allows the company to complement and add to the kind of innovation already being done in Chicago.

​Our Goals

Communities on the South Side of Chicago will have access to our facility for innovation, providing Chicagoans  resources needed to impact solutions to chronic underlying health conditions in underserved communities. Our impact comes, in part, from the investment many Black entrepreneurs have already made to the community. This dedication combined with increasing opportunities for innovation will bring the South Side closer to alleviating the tremendous healthcare burden and inequality ravaging Black communities. 

Healthcare
We develop innovative, community-focused solutions that tackle health disparities, health inequities, and the enduring inaccessibility of healthcare within the most vulnerable communities. 

Entrepreneurism & Job Creation
We create new opportunities for higher-skilled employment for residents of the community. By developing the South Side’s reputation as an innovation hub our work will likely motivate other start-ups to consider opportunities for business creation on the South Side.

Networking & Mentorship
We recruit talent locally and nationally, creating a robust network of gifted innovators who often go unnoticed, exposing them to existing opportunities.
